Noni Hazlehurst

Noni is one of Australia’s most distinguished and respected actors, with a career spanning over 40 years.

She has worked extensively on stage, in film, television, and radio as a performer, presenter, writer and director and is a popular public speaker.Her stage credits include Breath of Life, Hamlet, The Man from Mukinupin, Precious Woman, No Names No Pack Drill, Navigating, Woman in Mind, and The Conquest of Carmen Miranda for the Sydney Theatre Company; On Our Selection, Traitors, Whore in a Madhouse, and Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune for Belvoir St Theatre; Madagascar, Grace and The Heretic for the Melbourne Theatre Company; and Robyn Archer’s The Cut and Thrust Cabaret performed on London’s West End.

 

On television, Noni has starred in The Box, The Sullivans, Ride On Stranger, Jokes, Nancy Wake, The Shiralee, Waiting at the Royal, Waterfront, City Homicide, Stepfather of the Bride, and Curtin.

 

Most recently, she has appeared in The Broken Shore, Redfern Now, and A Place to Call Home. Her films credits include Fatty Finn, Waiting, Australian Dream, Monkey Grip, Little Fish, Bitter & Twisted, Candy, and The Mule.

Noni has been nominated for 8 and awarded 4 AFIs (including a nomination for Best Direction of a Telemovie), 2 Logies, received Best Actress at the San Sebastian Film Festival 2 Critics’ Choice Awards and 2 Variety Club Awards. In 1995, she became a member of the Order of Australia and has received an honorary PhD from Flinders University.

 

She worked on Playschool for 24 years, hosted and wrote for Better Homes and Gardens for 10 years and works for ABC radio as a guest presenter.
